Outstation trips mean you're further from home if something goes wrong administratively — a few minutes of prep avoids most of it.
- •A valid photo ID, especially if your trip includes a hotel check-in or a hospital/government visit at the destination.
- •Any prescriptions, if your trip involves ongoing medication or a medical appointment — carrying the prescription, not just the medicine, matters if you need a refill on the road.

Weather and timing
Tamil Nadu's main rainy season is the north-east monsoon, roughly October to December, concentrated along the coast. If your route touches the coast in that window, check the weather before you leave and keep a compact umbrella or raincoat in the car.
Hill routes are a different consideration — fog and slower ghat-road driving are more likely during the monsoon months, so build in extra time rather than cutting it close if your trip climbs into the Nilgiris or similar terrain.
Electronics and staying reachable
A charged phone (and a power bank, if your trip is long) matters more on an outstation trip than a local one — you'll want it for the pickup OTP, for messaging your driver directly through the app if plans shift, and so family can follow your live trip status if they'd like to.
