Chennai Travel Guide
Chennai is Tamil Nadu's capital and largest city, known for Marina Beach and its IT and auto-manufacturing industries.
What Chennai is known for
Marina Beach
One of the world's longest urban beaches, stretching about 13km along Chennai's Bay of Bengal coast. It's less a swimming beach and more a public promenade — locals come for evening walks, roadside snacks, and kite-flying, with the Vivekananda memorial and the old Chennai lighthouse both sitting along its length.

Kapaleeshwarar Temple
A working Shiva temple in the heart of Mylapore, one of Chennai's oldest neighborhoods. Its tall, colourfully painted gopuram is a Mylapore landmark in its own right, and the temple tank and surrounding streets are where much of the area's traditional Tamil culture — music, dance, and the annual temple car festival — is still centered.

Fort St. George
Built in 1644, this was the first English fortress in India and the seed the city of Chennai (then Madras) grew around. It still houses the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly and Secretariat, and its museum holds artefacts from the East India Company era, along with St. Mary's Church, the oldest Anglican church east of Suez.

Best time to visit
November to February is the most comfortable stretch — cooler and drier. October to December is Tamil Nadu's main north-east monsoon season on the coast, so it's worth checking the weather before you travel then.
Safety on the road
Every Cabmart trip is tracked live from pickup to drop, and every driver is verified before their first ride. In an emergency, the in-app SOS button alerts your emergency contacts and dials 112 with your live location.

Is Chennai connected by outstation taxi from other Tamil Nadu cities?
Yes — Cabmart matches any pickup to any drop statewide by live driver location, not fixed routes, so a trip to or from Chennai works from anywhere in Tamil Nadu, not just Chennai.
