Nilgiri Mountain Railway
A metre-gauge rack railway opened in 1908, climbing roughly 46km from Mettupalayam to Ooty through 16 tunnels and over 250 bridges, gaining nearly 2,000 metres in elevation along the way. It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site in its own right, not just a scenic ride.

Ooty Botanical Garden
Laid out in 1848 on a sloped, terraced site below Doddabetta, with over a thousand species of plants including a fossilized tree trunk estimated at 20 million years old. Its Italian and Japanese garden sections and rows of century-old trees make it a popular walk even outside flowering season.

Doddabetta Peak
At just over 2,600 metres, the highest point in the Nilgiri Hills, a short drive from Ooty town. A telescope house near the summit gives a clear view over the surrounding tea estates and, on a good day, out toward Mysuru and Coimbatore.
